The 2004 FSAE-A competition saw the first time QUT Motorsport competed. Featuring a Yamaha R6, chromoly steel tube space frame and 13″ Goodyear tyres, the team had high hopes for the competitiveness of their design, and it showed, with a respectable midfield finish of 17th overall.

Unfortunately, due to snapping a stub axle, QMX-I was not able to compete in the skid pad event. However with some quick fixing, the car was able to make it out for the rest of the events.
