Yesterday was the final day of comp and it was ano

Yesterday was the final day of comp and it was another deeply emotional day for our team, filled with challenges and moments that tested our resilience.

Our driverless subteam attended the AV Design Lite in the morning, showcasing the hard work and innovation behind our autonomous systems. They did exceptionally well and received positive feedback that can we use to improve our designs and presentation for next year. Meanwhile, the rest of our team worked tirelessly to prepare QEV-4 Evo for the Autocross dynamic event.

We hit the track with high hopes, but unfortunately, technical issues caused the car to stop, resulting in a DNF for the event. Undeterred, our team poured their energy into troubleshooting and fixing the problems, determined to get QEV-4 Evo ready for the next event, Endurance. Despite their relentless effort, we arrived just a few minutes too late and couldn’t compete.

While the outcomes weren’t what we had hoped for, the determination and teamwork shown by everyone today were nothing short of inspiring. Our ability to stay focused under pressure and work together through setbacks speaks volumes about the strength and spirit of this team.

These challenges remind us that every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and improve. With each experience, we’re laying the groundwork for an even stronger future, and we remain committed to pushing boundaries and striving for excellence.

Yesterday was a very emotional day for our team, f

Yesterday was a very emotional day for our team, facing both highs and lows with our vehicles.

Our autonomous car, QEV-3D, representing many years of innovation, determination and dedication, reached its final EBS test - a crucial moment that would have allowed us to roll into the AV Demonstration Event and showcase all the incredible work put into the driverless systems this past year.

Unfortunately, during EBS Test, QEV-3D was unable to brake in time, crashing into the wall. This was a heartbreaking moment for us, as QEV-3D holds immense significance, not only as a testament to our team’s hard work but also as a tribute to Tom, a beloved team member we lost in 2020 🧡 We are currently testing QEV-3D to assess the extent of the damage. Fortunately, it appears to be only minor, which is a true testament to the incredible engineering our team has put into making the car as safe as possible.

Meanwhile, our electric vehicle, QEV-4 Evo, had a challenging start but fortunately still made it onto the track for the Acceleration Event, proving our resilience and determination to push forward.

The journey may not have gone as planned, but we are incredibly proud of everything our team has accomplished and will continue to work tirelessly to honour the legacy we’re building ✨

The morning of our team’s third day at comp saw

The morning of our team’s third day at comp saw us off to our Driver Briefing before the Skidpad Event started. Unfortunately, our EV team missed this event due to only successfully completing our EV Braking Test after the Skidpad Event closed.

Our driverless subteam ran into a few software challenges during their AV Inspection, however, they successfully completed this before doing a final Rain Test and, soon after that, moved into AV EBS Test.

Day 2 of the FSAE Australasian Competition is complete!

We wrapped up the Business Presentation and Design Event with excellent performance from our members. Next, we completed accumulator tests, EV2 scrutineering, and tilt tests for both vehicles. QEV-3D successfully passed Rain Test later this afternoon, ending the day on a high note, especially for our driverless subteam.

We’re eager to complete the rest of our scrutineering tests tomorrow, and move onto our dynamic challenges. Keep an eye out for more updates then!

Our team started our second morning at competition off with Business Presentation, as well as our accumulator scrutineering, tilt test, and EV 2 scrutineering with our EV, QEV-4 Evo! ✅

Our AV, QEV-3D, is undergoing its accumulator scrutineering, and will hopefully be rolling into EV 2 later this afternoon.

Passing our EV 1, accumulator, and mech scrutineering in both our EV and AV classes - making sure our vehicles are up to spec - as well as completing our Costing Event, our team is more motivated than ever to continue the momentum throughout the rest of the week!
